As for posting in two different forum areas I done this so the people that hang around in iPod > usage and iPod > Connecting to Windows would be able to see the issues. Obviously didnt research on how to setup/update/restore. A friend bought the iPod from ebay and destroyed it. Lyssa im not using iTunes at all its not even installed. I assumed the updater would check for a file system, but now that I think about it makes sense if it recreates the file system. I assume that it updates the firmware and dumps an image on the iPod, does it also try rebuild the file format on the drive? I understand FAT32 limitations with windows (32Gig if anyone is wondering) but I wasnt trying to format the drive but simply run check disk which when preformed will display the partition then ask to reconnect the drive after failing.ĭoes anyone know exactly what the iPod Updater does? If I rebuild the iPod on a Mac which will use the HSS file system are there special drivers that will allow my iPod to be used on a windows machine. The marketing department at my company have Macs, and I have been toying with trying to restore the iPod using one of their machines. Maybe some of the things I have tried may help you.
